What We're Standing Up For

We're expressing our concerns about the collaboration between the Federal Trade Commission (FTC) and the Food and Drug Administration (FDA) regarding the enforcement of drug standards on dietary supplements. We believe in safeguarding the diverse range of health options available to individuals without undue governmental interference. It's important to engage in dialogue and action to uphold the principles of choice and access in healthcare.

Why Your Voice Matters

The current concern centers on the FTC's proposal to mandate randomized clinical trials (RCTs) for health claims made by dietary supplement manufacturers. Industry leaders argue that this requirement, borrowed from pharmaceutical standards, is both impractical and unjust for natural products.

Dietary supplements, often derived from botanicals and herbs with centuries of traditional use, differ significantly from synthetic drugs. Requiring RCTs could hinder innovation and limit consumer access to natural health options.

This approach undermines principles of choice and holistic healthcare access, disregarding existing scientific evidence supporting the safety and efficacy of many supplements. Advocates urge the FTC to collaborate with stakeholders for more appropriate evaluation standards, avoiding a one-size-fits-all approach detrimental to public health.

As the natural products industry grows, regulatory agencies must recognize its uniqueness and adapt policies accordingly.

Your voice, whether as an individual or representing a company or organization, holds significant weight in the ongoing discussion. Discussions to ensure regulations promote innovation, accessibility, and safety.
